Melacca The Historic State

Present-day Melaka reflects its tumultuous history - a multi-racial population of Malays, Indians, and Chinese call this historic city home. Most notably, Peranakan and Portuguese communities still thrive in Melaka, a reminder of the state's long experience with trading and colonization.

Melaka's founder, the ex-pirate Prince Parameswara, was said to be a descendant of Alexander the Great, but it's more likely that he was a Hindu political refugee from Sumatra.

According to legend, the Prince was resting one day under an Indian gooseberry tree (also known as a melaka). As he watched one of his hunting dogs trying to bring down a mouse deer, it occurred to him that the deer shared a similar plight to his own: alone, exiled in a foreign land and surrounded by enemies. The mouse deer then achieved the improbable and fought off the dog.

Parameswara decided that the place where he was sitting was a propitious one for the disadvantaged to triumph, so decided to build a house on the spot.

Malacca did indeed turn out to be a favorable place to found a town, due to its sheltered harbor, its abundant water supply and its prime location relative to the regional trade and monsoon wind patterns.

Dinner at Melacca Parade! :)

We went to the Melaka Parade to grab some food and have our dinner. Melaka Parade is known as a shopping mall and you can get whatever u want there, They have many kinds of shops, restaurants, fast food stalls and many more. So we deided to have Nando's as our first day dinner in Melacca! It was almost 9:00 P.M. when we were about to have dinner and was extremely hungry!

Melaka Parade is at Melaka Town (Mahkota Parade 1 Jalan Merdeka, 75000 Malacca) You can easily find this shopping mall buy taking a cab from your hotel and it will cost less then RM 20.

So yeah these are my classmate and we decided to have dinner together. What makes it more special to me is that this is my first time eating outside of campus with them.
I had a great time with all of them :)

This is how it looks like Nando's in Melaka Parade. The restaurant is big and comfortable for us and it was a good dinner for all of us :D

Melaka River! :)

Visiting the Melaka River is one of the best experience! We were all there around 7:00 P.M.  so we get to see the view of Melacca buildings at night with the amazing colourful lights!

The cruise we took was really nice and the ride was a memorable ride for us students. Melaka River is a river which flows through the middle Malacca Town in the Malaysian state of Malacca. It was once an important trade route during the heyday of Malacca Sultanate in the 15th century. It has lost most of this function in the present and is a mere tourist attraction.

Melaka River also have connection with the founder of Melacca, Parameswara. It is located at Jalan Laksamana, 75000 Malacca. You can also contact them to ask any information by calling this number : Phone:06-281 4322
The Melaka River was once in a pretty nasty state, but the authorities realized its tourism potential and cleaned it up. A flotilla of small boats transports sightseers up and down past historic buildings, old warehouses (godowns), interesting mangrove stands, churches, and villages. The 1998 Sean Connery movie Entrapment was partially filmed here. Tours last about 45 minutes in boats ranging from 20- to 40-seaters, and normally a minimum of eight passengers is required before departure. Take a taxi to the jetty at Taman Rempah, about 20 minutes from Melaka town (about RM20). You can request beforehand to be dropped at the jetty beside the Maritime Museum instead of traveling back up river, but it's not advisable to take the boat from that jetty, as it's not a normal stop.

Per entry cost RM 10 for adults.

Here are some of the pictures during the activities held:

So at 7:00 P.M. we are here at the Melaka River Cruise! The place was big and so convenient to park anywhere. Can't wait for the ride! :)

Yeah! Finally I got into the boat! Melaka River Cruise here I come! :D The boat was really cute and nice as it was comfortable to sit and also to see the view of the buildings.

This is one of the many views that i captured. The lighting and building are all amazing and I was really amaze with the beautiful traditional houses along the ride.

Oh yeah! this was the ticket for the cruise! Per entry for adult cost around RM 10. It is cheap and affordable where u can experience many things while riding on it! :)

This picture shows a bridge that is unique and lighted up with yellow lights. Each of the bridge here have their own name such as Jambatan Hang Tuah, Jambatan Hang Jebat and many more. These names are actually related to the Melacca "heroes" history.

This green light that was lighted up on one of the building had caught my attention to see it. It was beautiful and really bright.

As you can see, Malaysian flag was statue on the boat plus the night view on the cruise was really amazing. The river was also very beautiful. I felt like staying in the cruise for another 5 hours and see the amazing views from each angles of it. :D

This structure is also very beautiful! Plus it is lighted up and you can see the shadow of the structure in the river.  It looks like it has the traditional unique structure on it with the paintings and design.

This is how it looks like in the cruise! It can probably fit in around 35 to 40 people in one cruise.

This is another amazing bridge that is lighted up with nice lighting!

Beautiful view with amazing green light under the historic bridge!

Another design of bridge! Told you that you can see many bridges while riding on the cruise! It is all beautiful with unique design that occur in all of the structures.

And that's me in the cruise before taking off! Took a picture and I love the perfect view of it! :)

This is what we call the "Eye Of Melacca" where tourist can come experience taking a ride on it and they can see the amazing city of Melacca with just one round.  The lights on it is just simply nice and colorful.

And the last picture on the cruise! I'm going to miss it! It was a memorable ride for me as it was my first time on it! Still it was not a waste of time for me as I get to see many exciting views! :)

The journey will take you 1 hour 15 minutes to 2 hours. Here is some pictures which I took for you to have a look at your own:

This is a board which was located front of the university! So when we saw this board in the bus right when it park in the parking lot, we all eventually feel so excited and can't wait to get down from the bus! :D

This is how the Hotel looks like, It has the perfect structure and beautiful view! This was actually owned by the Po Portuguese. Now, it is owned by our very own Tan Sri Limkokwing. St the back of this hotel is where the sea side is! The weather is always hot as the sun shines so brightly but if you are here u will love the perfect view of it :)

And yes thats the Lisbon Hotel and it is said that Melacca is a tourism place where tourist from all around the world come to Malaysia just to visit here for knowing the history of this state and experience the best places here such as Afamosa.

Thats me with a happy face and background of the Lisbon Hotel. Can't wait for many other activities later! :D

Yeah! that's my room which i was sharing it with one of my classmate! In the room, there were two single bed and it was fully carpeted room. Besides, the room was comfortable to us.  I had a good time for sharing room with my classmate and enjoyed the beautiful view outside.

At the Hotel, it was exactly the same as Cyberjaya campus. There they have Wings Coffee, 10Ten, Laundry, Live Band and many more. But some was not open yet because it is still under renovation. It will soon be open once the renovation done and all the facilities will be the same as Cyberjaya campus.

And that's me again with a happy mood after a long time visiting Melacca again! :)

This was the view from my room. Isn't it looks amazing? I was tauched with the beauty of the sea. I just love it :)
